The General General Information
The General includes the minimum amount of car insurance required to drive legally in your state. In most states, this is only insurance for liabilities. In some states, extra coverage like protection for personal injury and uninsured motorist is a requirement.
Unlike many of its competitors, The General does not include the information about extra coverage on its site. You will most likely have to get a quote first to find those details.
Double Deductible: This is one of The General’s optional discounts. Your deductible will double for your collision and comprehensive insurance for the initial 45 days of your policy. This is only available at the time of your initial purchase and may or may not be available in some states.
SR-22 Insurance Forms: The General can give you an SR-22 form which is a document that will prove that you have sufficient car insurance. If you have been convicted of a DUI, or other serious motor vehicle offense like driving without insurance, driving on a suspended/revoked license, then your state may require you to file one.
